Before heading to Cameroon, we planned a four-day stopover in Paris to adjust to the time change. Since Africa dominated our planning, we didn't do much research on Paris before our trip, but "winging" it in Paris wasn't that difficult. Our travel agent had set us up with an old hotel in the Opera district, so we were in a very pleasant area of Paris. Marc Ulrich, Trish's foreign exchange brother from high school, drove over from Germany to spend a day with us.

France in February wasn't that warm, so we stayed away from many outdoor activities (no climbing of the Eiffel tower for us!) but we spent plenty of time in restaurants instead. We did spend a day at Versailles which was very interesting.

Someone that didn't get to go to Africa with us (although he knew
something was up...).

At Versailles. Although the gardens weren't blooming, it was still
amazing to walk through the Louis's playground.

Lots of pictures were taken outside of major monuments
because we didn't plan our time carefully enough to go in!

We chose a different art museum rather than the huge Louvre.
